Project overview

At the heart of Auckland New Zealand’s waterfront is M Social Hotel. The original building was gutted down to its structure to allow for seismic upgrading; the subsequent renovation acknowledges the structure’s 70s vibe. The entry as well as bar and dining area were oriented towards this sea view.

Aedas commissioned an installation of Ding lamps for the entrance lobby that doubles as a bar. The installation alludes to the nearby Auckland Harbour and cultivates a nautical theme using our Ding pendants interwoven with crisscrossing ropes. Each room of the hotel was also outfitted with a pendant to emphasise the maritime theme.
