We spent this past November working on new collections and collaborations at our studio in Jingdezhen, known as the porcelain city of China. Our time there is mainly filled busying around, designing, making and getting dirty with clay. But being in Jingdezhen is also a time to be social, to sit down at the dinner table and chat with talented ceramic designers and artists from all four corners of the globe.
Our first Sunday was spent brunching at August and Guy’s home and studio. Former bankers, the pair setup shop in Jingdezhen to launch their brand called Spherebol. Their Jingdezhen design house is partly where they produce their gorgeous hand painted tableware and also their home. This make the place very special, filled with their own wares, prototypes and works in progress.
It is tradition for them to host Sunday brunches filled with laughter, wonderful guests, ceramic and tables laden with food. The studio is transformed into a busy kitchen where each guest prepares their contribution to what became a lavish table of food. The hosts even make their own bread.
We send our gratitude and admiration to all the talented ceramicists we met during this wonderful brunch with special thanks to August and Guy for the generosity extended to us.
